Charrière Julian

1987

Julian Charrière is a Swiss-French conceptual artist. He was born in 1987 in Morges, Switzerland. After graduating from École cantonale d’art du Valais in Switzerland he moved to Berlin to study at Olafur Eliasson’s Institute of Spatial Experiments. Charrière’s artistic practice is closely linked to geology, physics and archeology; his works present a symbiosis of art, science and technology. The central theme of his research-based practice is the humankind’s influence on the natural landscapes, glaciers and volcanoes. He currently lives and works in Berlin.

Julian Charrière was a participant of the 57th Venice Biennial (2017) and the 5th Moscow International Biennial of Young Art (2016). His solo exhibition had taken place in many venues in Germany, France and the USA, including the exhibition Freeze, Memory in Sean Kelly Gallery in New York (2016).
