Batynkov Konstantin

Konstantin Batynkov is a Soviet and Russian painter and graphic artist. He was born in Sevastopol in 1959; his family moved to Moscow the same year. In 1983 he became a member of the Union of Artists despite the lack of higher artistic education. In 1985 he started a long-time collaboration with Mit’ki, a group of artists, musicians, poets, and writers whose work examined the everyday life and played a significant role in Leningrad unofficial art of the 1980’s — 1990’s. Images of catastrophes and absurd battles are prominent in Batynkov’s work, which he himself calls joyful apocalypse. He lives and works in Moscow. 

Konstantin Batynkov’s personal exhibitions were held in Berlin, Vienna and Moscow. His work is in the collections of the State Tretjakov Gallery, Moscow; the National Centre of Contemporary Art, Moscow; and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
