Savadov Arsen

Ukrainian artist. Born in 1962 in Kiev, Ukraine. In 1986 he graduated from the Kiev State Art Institute. Member of the Kiev art group "Paris Commune". Known as one of the key figures of the South Russian Wave. In the 1990s he worked with photography and video. Savadov became initially famous by his provocative photo series. Now the artist works mainly in the genre of conceptual painting. In his own words, he develops the theme of "new mythology" in contemporary art, creating works "from the wreckage of consciousness." Currently lives and works in Kiev.

Arsen Savadov had solo shows all over the world, including Kiev, Moscow, Paris, New York and Vienna. In 2015, the artist took part in the important exhibition of Eastern European art BALAGAN!!! curated by David Elliott. In 2017, the London audience saw his provoking artworks at the Art Riot: Post-Soviet Actionism exhibition at Saatchi Gallery. The artist represented Ukraine at the 49th Venice Biennale.
