Fransisco Infante-Arana is a Soviet and Russian installation artist and photographer. He was born in 1943 in Vasilievka, Saratov Oblast (USSR). In 1966 he graduated from Stroganov College of Decorative and Applied Arts, Moscow. Arana created his first installations in the late 1960’s; in the mid-1970’s he developed his own philosophy of the ‘artifact’ that traces back to Malevich’s and Tatlin’s utopian objects which unite nature and technology in a symbiotic organism. He collaborates artistically with his wife Donna Goryunova since 1968.
